A beautiful warm to hot day accompanied by strong gusting cross winds causing a number of issues on the bike course through out the days racing. Unfortunately Luke Whitmore was felled by a collision between two Elite riders that occurred right in front of him. Luke’s bike was severely damaged in the crash and his injuries required stitches in his cheek and he sustained numerous cuts and bruises although he was fortunate not to have broken any bones. We are all wishing Luke a swift recovery and return to form.

Eltham Tri had a number of Podium finishes for the day … The ever reliable Deb Sumner finished 2nd in the Brooks F50+, Mara Ferraro finished 3rd Brooks F40-49. This was a great effort after her wild evening out the night before. Something to do with a hens party and live male model. Simon Carey was first in his M ITU Junior category and 9th over all on the day. Well done Simon on a great effort! Cameron Simon was first in his M35 - 39 category.. This was another convincing win with 2nd place trailing in 1.5 minutes behind and third place at a distant 2.5minutes.Chris Mennie was second in the M55-59 category. While Chris is not strictly a member it is is exceptionally good of him to make the podium wearing our club uniform! I chatted to him briefly on the start line and he says he appreciates all the support he gets out on the course. Perhaps we can offer him enough encouragement to join soon! In the meantime he is sharing his glory with us. Ethan Neyland posted a time two minutes quicker than his father Glenn Neyland. Well done Ethan - come on Dad!! Tarryn Whitmore, Kate Murphy, Hayden Marshall, Helen Bellman, Greg Marshall, D'Wayne Hogan, Tara Neyland, Sharon Neyland, Liz Carey, Kristin Simon all turned out to support, along with Paul McAllister and numerous other partners and friends.
