Australia Day came gift wrapped in beach weather this year. We had a small but determined contingent on hand to represent Eltham Tri at the Australia Day Swim in Williamstown. Ellis Evans opened the day in the Junior Girls 500m event. Swimming in only her second open water event, she ran 2nd in her Under12 category and was the 4th girl in over all. Congratulations Ellis! Cam Simon was a blistering first place in his category completing the 1km course in 14:23.5. Second place in this category was over 3 minutes (yes minutes!) behind him. Great swim Cam. Talk about stamping your mark! Former Club VP Leanne Sheean is in top form this year. She took out second place in her category 2km swim in 31:29.7, showing wonderful endurance and ability for next week's Big Bay Swim entry. Also out on the 2km course Darren 32:43.2 came in just ahead of Beanbag 32:57.1 on time, leading Andrew’s 33:48.7. Pity these boys were on different handicaps, altogether it could be an interesting match over this distance! We must try this sometime … L-R: Andrew, Ellis, Darren, Beanbag & Leanne Thanks to Leanne Reynolds and Jane Hinwood for support and encouragement and of course to Williamstown SLSC for staging the event and taking good care of us. We had a great Australia Day in Williamstown. |
