What a fantastic turn out for the Golden Slipper Race last Sunday 25th October at Latrobe Uni with 37 participants out racing in good conditions.  A further 15 assisted with marshalling on the day and numerous friends and supporters were on hand to help make the day fun and successful. Conditions were excellent for the race start with high overcast, no wind and a tolerable 16 degrees, near ideal race conditions.  During the race the temperature dropped and a light rain shower kept everyone cool without making the cycle course too slippery.

The Juniors lead the day off at 8am on the Dash course 200m/4k/1k with Ethan Neyland running home to a convincing win ahead of James Foster and Alexander Malcolm.  In the Junior girls, Claudia Williver ran down Ellis Evans, reeling in Ellis’ 60 second lead coming out of T2 to just clinch a photo finish win with Megan Bellman running in third.  Well done girls!

In the women Kate Murphy stamped out a convincing win on the Sprint course 400m/10k/3k to take out the Golden Stiletto on the day from Nicole Blythe and Tarryn Whitmore who is still travelling more than fast enough for two!

In the men Simon Carey lead from start to finish managing to hold off Paul Attard with a strong run leg to cap his very convincing swim and bike, with Luke Whitmore in 3rd place.  Simon is one of the youngest ever winners of the Golden Slipper and one of a very few to stand ahead of Paul and Luke at the end of a day’s racing.
