The Eltham Triathlon Club has started its worldwide domination of triathlon (or so it seems) with some more great results on the weekend in some of the worst conditions known to man. When I woke up at 6:00am I didn’t know whether to go to the race or start building an ark! Once again the rain in the preceding days forced the race to be changed to a duathlon and on race day, rain and wind played havoc with the competitors. This did not however affect the Eltham Tri members who shone through with some fantastic times, including Paul Attard’s 5th place finish in the Open category and also the 3 fastest age groupers of the day with Cam Simon (me), Luke Whitmore (out for a bit of 'light' post-Hawaiin IM exercise) and Steve Lane.
Other notable mentions were:
Ryan (Frysy) Scannell: who looked outside and saw the rain and opted to go back to sleep for protection! (We know you had a really important exam mate, don’t worry)
Steve Hadley: Being a specialist duathlete thought he’d enter the Elite category, but forgot to change his aero bars to the required length for drafting races and was subsequently dq’d.
Nick Scott: Who fought his own personal battle in holding off a demanding call from mother nature long enough to finish the race without stopping. Where's the *&^# toilet!
Overall it was an unpleasant day but good for the mental toughness and will make all the other races feel so much easier.

Hope I didn’t miss anyone, sorry if I did.
